Daphne 16
“16,” is a collection of songs from shows toured in cabaret over a span of 16 months: Songs That Oscar Taught Me, Daphne Sings Piaf, An American Girl in Paris, World War II, and Words of Love. Inspired arrangements from the wondrous Douglas Levine and John Marcinizyn helped build a repertoire and take it on the road. It was a wild year and a half of mixing styles and exploring un-chartered, deep waters. I’d never go back to being 16 again, but I really dig these songs. Gratitude.

Songs From The Heart
When Patricia Gibbons approached me in the summer of 2003 with the idea to record a collection of love songs in Heinz Memorial Chapel, I just about fell off my chair. Trained classically, I started in opera and chamber music only to move toward Early and Baroque music, discovering the French popular repertoire en route. Michael Moricz suggested that we compile all of those styles in a collection of love songs. This disc is meant to be a compilation of love songs–love that transcends prejudice, religious boundries, and cultural clashes. I've often felt that all it takes is just a little more love.

A Matinee at The Love Cafe
A confession: cabaret singing had always been a guilty pleasure well-hidden under every possible bushel. As a lark, one day at a voice lesson, I tested the waters by singing La vie en rose. Dodi, my teacher at the time, almost fell off her chair exclaiming, “Dear God, why aren’t you out there singing cabaret?” She sent me that very night to hear the lovely Barbara Cook at the Café Carlyle—a glorious night that illuminated life and truth; it will be a treasure in my memory forevermore.
